guilty pleasure

These days I spend most of my knitting energy making stuff up - which is why knitting other people's patterns has become a guilty pleasure. I started this project about 18 months ago. In the meantime, I've gotten quite a lot of knitting done on other projects - while the unfinished back of this sweater has had an epic nap in a basket on a shelf. I picked it up again this weekend as I was re-organizing the shelves in my new studio. I've had a few false starts lately and it's just so nice to have something to work on while I figure out what's next.

yes, yes, yes... and yes!?!!

You really never know what will happen when you put yourself out there. I got the submission call for the 60 Quick Toddler Knits Book on August 14th. I left for vacation on August 15th with 6 skeins of yarn and 14 days to come up with as many designs possible. I knit swatch after swatch and my husband did sketch after sketch. Rhinebeck report

When the New York Sheep & Wool festival rolls around every October we are reminded - it all starts with the sheep. Or alpaca. Or llama. Or goat. Or angora bunny. Or yak. Or quivut! deadlines

When the wonderfully long and lazy days of summer draw to a close and it's time to climb back on the proverbial treadmill, I'm ready. I'm sick to death of the heat and humidity. I have almost run out of the baby powder that I've been hopelessly dusting myself with every morning for a month - so that my hair doesn't stick to my neck and my legs don't stick to each other when I cross them. I'm sad looking out at my parched garden, because no matter how much I seem to water, everything is so desperately dry and droopy. I'm mad and itchy because I have poison ivy - again. My summer wardrobe has become a total bore - I've repeated the same 3 sleeveless blouses so many times I never want to see them again. But mostly, I'm ready to be productive and for everyone to get back on a schedule.
